Our Services

For many years the legal profession consisted of two branches, namely: attorneys and advocates.  Members of the public could only approach attorneys for legal services, but could not approach advocates direct without first having an attorney as an in-between professional who, in turn, would refer them to an advocate.  The Legal Practice Act 28 of 2014 presented members of the public with a new opportunity of having direct access to the services of advocates provided those advocates are registered with the Legal Practice Council as section 34(2)(a)(i) and (ii) advocates and have a trust account and a Fidelity Fund Certificate.

This practice is such a law practice, offering legal representation in all courts mainly in the field of criminal law.  The practice also offers legal advice and representation on a variety of matters that are within the ambit of an advocate’s profession, excluding those matters that should properly be handled by attorneys.

As already pointed out, this practice offers legal representation in courts of criminal law, instructed both by members of the public and attorneys.  Any instructions — from bail applications, bail appeals, trials, and trials which require trials-within-a-trial, are within the purview of this practice.  However, the practice also handles Motion Court applications and civil action matters.
